Meet the parents!

It was my first time meeting my BF's parents and I was crazy nervous! My palms were sweaty and my voice went all Minnie Mouse. I wasn't so much concerned about actually meeting them, as I was about the language barrier. I only speak English, my BF is fairly bilingual but his parents only speak Afrikaans. So, all night I muttered a shy 'yes' or ‘no', or smiled. Things were going great, or so I thought… until my boyfriend whispered in my ear, asking why I answered ‘yes' to "Is die kos effens gebrand?" (translated in English it means "Is the food partially burnt?") You can only imagine my face!
