Varsity or gap year?
Are you 100% sure of what profession you'd like to pursue after school?
A. Of course, I've already applied and been accepted. Stoked!
B. Sort of. I'm having a bit of trouble deciding between the top five.
C. Not even close!
What are you most looking forward to about Varsity?
A. Attending lectures, meeting new people ─ the experience as a whole.
B. The fact that I don't have to wear a dull school uniform everyday!
C. The cute older guys and cool parties I guess.
Are you planning on getting a part time job when you finish school?
A. That all depends on how my schedule will look once I start varsity. I wouldn’t want to over exert myself.
B. Of course! I don't want to get caught up in classes and not have time for anything else.
C. Part-time job? I'm more interested in finding something full-time.
Have you attended any open days?
A. I've attended almost every one that I've heard about and I've built up my collection of booklets and application forms.
B. I've been dragged to a few with my school. I guess it was pretty informative.
C. Yes. Anything to get away from school for a few hours!
Varsity guys are:
A. Hot! I'm so excited to meet mature guys and not high school boys!
B. No different. All guys are the same.
C. Not nearly as good-looking as London boys. I'm sure I'll befriend a couple when I'm over there.
You're Done!
Straight to Uni!
You've been devouring our 'First year survival guide' in preparation for what's to come. You cannot wait to venture into the world of tertiary education! Not only are 100% sure of what you'd like to study, but you're totally excited about it. You've really enjoyed your school career, but you're more than ready to start the next chapter in your life. All you need is a long summer break before you kick-start your Uni year!
A part of you is really excited about the future and the prospect of not having to wake up every morning to put on a boring school uniform. The freedom of not being in school is what excites you, but you're not so sure if you're ready to take on another four years just yet. You've applied to the varsity of your choice, but you still don't know if it's exactly what you want. Rather be 100 % sure of what you'd like to do – you wouldn't want to end up wasting a year of your life doing something you don't really want to. Chat to a counsellor if you're still feeling overwhelmed and confused in the next few weeks.
You can't wait to dot the last 'i' and put the last full stop on your final exam! It's been a long 12 years and all you can think about is finishing school and taking a break to 'find yourself'. Your visa has been approved and you can't wait to board that plane in search of adventures of a different kind. You don't know what you'd like to study yet and figured it would be a waste of time and money to apply for something you don't really want to. Just ensure that your gap year is a worthwhile and that you don't come to the end of another year feeling as lost and confused as you did beginning. Good luck!
