Position: Assistant Digital Editor for www.seventeen.co.za
How I got here: A friend who was already working at seventeen at the time, told me about the job! I had just completed my ND Journalism at the Cape Peninsula University of Technology, so I was quite fortunate to land a job as digital intern almost instantly. I obtained my BTech Degree in Journalism while working as a Digital Content Producer. I relocated and freelanced for seventeen from Durban before applying for the permanent position as Assistant Digital Editor back in the Mother City. It's been quite a journey!
I love my job because... I'm always challenged to be creative! Digital is ever-changing, so you have to keep your finger on the pulse and think like a teen girl.
The thing that drives me crazy is... Trying to 'compartmentalise' my brain. I've learnt that no matter how small a task is, it's best to jot it down to avoid anything falling through the cracks. My to-do list works for me.
You'll love my job if you are... Passionate about the power of online media. You also need to be really teachable and must be able to bring something to the party - no idea is ever silly. And of course, you have to love the typical girly things: fashion, boys and fun!
