Roxanne Francis spoke to this up-and-coming Durban rock band and got the scoop on their hit 'Daydreaming' and how they think girls should play it cool in the dating game!

Who are the guys behind the band? Tell us about yourselves?

Dylan: I'm the lead singer and rhythm guitarist. I'm a law graduate, currently serving my articles. I love music and try to dedicate much of my time to the band.

Lliam: I'm the bass guitarist. I'm also a candidate attorney, serving my articles for two years and I enjoy web designing and, obviously, playing music.

Don: I'm the group's drummer and I work for TBT Port. I love music and I'm just an ordinary guy.

Gareth: I'm the group's guitarist.

Why Red Light Stereo? Who came up with the name?
Dylan: It was one of the first songs we wrote. We all got together one night, sat with the dictionary and googled and eventually got to Red Light Stereo. We put it together and it had a nice ring to it.

How did you get started?
Dylan: The three of us [Dylan, Lliam and Gareth] went to high school together. We played cover bands and about two years ago we formed Red Light Stereo. We then decided to concentrate on our own music and that's when Don, our drummer, joined the band.

You guys have released your debut album 'Edges of a Dream'. What is the band's favourite song on the album?
Lliam: We all have different favourites but definitely 'Daydreaming'.

Your music video for your song 'Daydreaming' is being aired on MK, please tell us more about the music video.
Dylan: It had to tie in with the song, but we didn't want it to be too literal. Like, every time you say a word it appears on the screen. It's kind of a montage of where one could escape to from every day boring situations.

Who is your ultimate celebrity crush?
Dylan: Taylor Swift. She's beautiful and has an awesome voice. She gives off that 'good-girl-talented' vibe.

Lliam: Megan Fox. She's quite good-looking (laughs) I don't know her on a personal level, but based on looks alone, definitely her.

Don: Megan Fox and Katy Perry. She [Katy Perry] has that doll look and her singing is lovely.

What do you look for in a girl?
Don: She must be able to make you laugh and be fun to hang out with. It's always cool to have a girlfriend that can let her hair down and have fun.

Valentine's Day is coming up and while it's a hot date on the calendar for most girls, guys often freak out! Briefly describe your worst V-Day to date.

Don: Mine's probably going to be this one because I'm single (laughs).

Gareth: I think I've only spent 1 out of 6 [Valentine's Days] with someone I love. I'm not getting emotional.

Which song would you play to woo your GF on Valentine's Day?
Dylan: (singing) Something that isn't too cheesy, probably John Mayer and The Fray.

Complete the sentence: When I was seventeen, Valentine's Day was... exciting and romantic.

In your opinion, what's worse, being the dumper or the dumpee?

Lliam: To dump someone is worse, but when you're the dumpee you don't have control. When you're the dumper you have stress but it's controlled stress.

What mistakes do girls often do when they start dating a guy?
Dylan: They play hard to get. It's also a question of balance. Many girls throw themselves at the guy, and guys get thrown off by that. You must still find a balance. You can't see your BF 24/7.

Relationship questions 101, what is Red Light Stereo's view on:

How to get over a guy that you have had a huge crush on for three years?
Meet someone else. You'll have more free time.

If your BFF and you like the same guy?
Friends are more important than crushes. Talk about it with your friend.

Long distance relationships – do they ever work out?
Never ever ever. Only when you're planning a future together.

Dating a guy who is already involved, EVEN if he shows you that he's interested in you:
The fact that he has a girlfriend means you should MOVE ON.
