Celebs raise $1 million to help fight AIDS
07 Dec 10
After agreeing to terminate their overactive digital lives last week to raise awareness of AIDS, celebs Alicia Keys, Kim Kardashian, Lady Gaga and Justin Timberlake have – in conjunction with other artists – reached their target and raised $1 million (R6,890,779)!
These stars switched off their digital lives to raise as much money as possible for Alicia's charity, Keep a Child Alive. This meant that they did not tweet, Facebook or blog – basically anything that involved the internet!
Alicia said: "From the bottom of my heart, thank you to all of the fans, friends and artists who stood together for this cause and saved real lives. I am humbled by the outpour of support from everyone."
Justin Timberlake revisited his Twitter account, tweeting: "Justin Timberlake is alive! We raised $1mil to help KCA fight AIDS. Thank you so much and never stop buying life! (sic)"
Well done guys!
